The main result of the article is a description of a purely syntactical algorithm which takes a proof in IST and converts it step by step into a proof within ZFC. (The proofs are in a convenient logic in which modus ponens is the only rule of inference.)

Theorem 1.1: Let $A=(A_1,\cdots,A_m)$ and $B=(B_1,\cdots,B_m)$ be two commuting $m$-tuples of normal operators on a Hilbert space. Then $\VertA- B\Vert\leq\sqrt{2}\max\{\Vert\lambda-\mu\Vert\colon \lambda\in\sigma(A), \mu\in\sigma(B)\}.$ This inequality is sharp.
