By train

Lancaster train station is on the West Coast Main Line, with frequent services. Throughout the day the train station has a frequent bus service, the X1 which takes about 15 minutes to get to the university.

There is also a taxi rank outside of the train station, which is accessed from platform 3. In case there are no taxis, local taxi services can be contacted on: 01524 32090; 01524 35666 and 01524 848848 and on average taxis cost 8.

Further buses are available from the bus station in Lancaster or Common Garden Street bus stop, both of which are a 5 minute walk from the train station. Buses to the university are the 2A,3,4 and 42 and serve the university every 10 minutes (city centre map).

By air

Manchester airport is 70 miles away and has frequent domestic and international services. There is a train station at the airport with direct services to Lancaster and once arriving at Lancaster train station the instructions to getting to the university are the same as above.

Liverpool airport provides frequent domestic and international services. However there is no direct train from the airport to Lancaster. Either a shuttle bus or taxi has to be taken to Liverpool Lime Street then a train to Lancaster can be taken with a change at Wigan North Western. Once arriving at Lancaster train station, the instructions to getting to the university are the same as by rail.

The nearest airport is Blackpool International airport, however they only run services to and from Dublin and Belfast. Squires Gate railway station is closest to Blackpool airport and from there you have to change trains at Preston to continue onto Lancaster.

By car

The main access to Lancaster is via the M6, the university is on the south side of Lancaster and is accessed by leaving the M6 at junction 33.

Once you have left the motorway take the A6 north towards Lancaster. For the main campus, turn right at the third set of traffic lights and there are directions to the Reception Lodge.

By bus

There is also a daily National Express service from Birmingham and London to the university campus.
