Splancs for Splus 4 - Windows NT/95
Here is a zip file of Splancs developed by
Steven Reader from the
original Splancs sources, that should work on Splus 4 with Windows NT
4, and probably on Windows 95 too.
Download SFLORIDA.ZIP
Here is an HTML version of the Readme file in the zip:
The files in this zipped archive (sflorida.zip) represent a modified
version of the PC Splancs (v2) software written by Barry Rowlingson
and Peter Diggle. It is meant as a direct replacement of the
splancs.zip file that Barry Rowlingson distributes through his web
pages.
The original splancs.zip file was found not to work under SPlus
4.0. This version (sflorida.zip) does. The modifications made to the
original PC Splancs are:
- The originally distributed PC Splancs (splancs.zip) was written for
SPLUS 3.* and the compiled code generates segmentation faults under
SPLUS 4 and then crashes SPLUS. This new distribution has a
recompilation of the distributed fortran source code using Watcom
Fortran Compiler v11 and the COMPILE utility of SPLUS 4.0. This
assures that the correct options are included for compilation. This
new version has been tested under both Win95 and NT 4.0.
- Some of the Splancs functions have been "very slightly" rewritten
for operation under SPLUS 4.0. Specifically, SPLUS 4.0 no longer
automatically returns the result of the last assignment in
do-loops. Therefore, some functions were rewritten to return
variables explicitly using the SPLUS 'return' statement.
- A windows format helpfile (.hlp) has been created for use of PC
Splancs and is made available as part of sflorida.zip.
To install this version of PC Splancs (v2) distributed as
sflorida.zip, you follow the same instructions as for the original
splancs.zip. In other words, under the library subdirectory of SPLUS,
create a new folder called splancs. Copy sflorida.zip to this folder
and then unzip. That's it....splancs will load using library(splancs)
within SPLUS.
Please contact me if you have any problems with the installation of
this version and please let me know if you successfully install as
well. I have only made the above changes to enable installation of PC
Splancs under SPLUS 4.0. Any questions on Splancs usage itself should
go to Barry Rowlingson and Peter Diggle, to whom we should all be
grateful for doing the real work of writing the code in the first
place.
