I have now managed to purchase a HTC Desire HD Android based smartphone to replace my much loved
Palm Zire 72. I picked it up on the 20th December 2010, so have not as yet had chance to evaluate it.
The only gripe I have so far is that the advert I responded to stated unlimited internet useage, subject to "fair use", which I though would be a couple of Gigabytes a month, or some other "reasonable" amount. Unfortunately when I got the telephone it said that the contract was limited to 250Megabytes a month, which is a long, long way short of any notion of unlimited. To those unused to the practices of the UK mobile telecommunications industry I would say take more care than usual when shopping around.
As I would not have taken up this offer had I known that there was a limit, and that the limit was so small, I think I was mislead by the advertisment, so will be making a formal complaint to Trading Standards, and the Advertising Standards Agency.
We shall see how this one runs.
