NCAA Basketball - Rankings for Selection Sunday

2011/12 Season

This table contain current rankings for the 2011/12 season. These are based on regular season results, and compare each teams win-loss record with a benchmark expected number of wins for their schedule (which we call their strength of schedule). Rankings are based on the difference in wins and expected number of wins.

To predict which teams will get bids, until conference champions are known we assume that the highest ranked team in each conference will win their respective conference. Of the remaining teams, the top 37 ranked teams would then warrant an at-large bid. The predicted seedings are also shown.

There is uncertainty with the estimate of the strength of schedule for each team, quantified by a margin of error. All teams whose win-loss record is within the margin of error of their strength of schedule should be considered as borderline for the championship.
