What our students say

Kiera (First Year)

Kiera, first-year student"Here at Lancaster, I'm studying for a degree in Mathematics (G100). For me, there were two main reasons for choosing Lancaster over other institutions. Firstly, Lancaster is a University with a good reputation, both amongst students and employers. Secondly, the location and campus style of the University was more suited to me than an inner city University. The city centre is a short bus ride away, and is extremely student friendly. The college system also makes it easy to make friends outside of your course. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time so far, and look forward to the next few years here!"

Stezia (Second Year)

Stezia, second-year student"As an international student, I chose to study at Lancaster as it is a well renowned university. I am currently studying Accounting, Finance and Mathematics. The university offers a wide range of social activities. I am part of the women's volleyball team, Volunteering Unit, African Caribbean Society and LU International Investment Society. I hope to follow a profession in areas that I can put into practice my degree to the most like actuary, investment banking or a chartered accountant."

Andy (Third Year)

Andy, third-year student"I'm currently in my third year studying for BSc Mathematics. I chose Lancaster because the course is heavily based on Pure Mathematics - an area I particularly like. I have also enjoyed the Statistics elements I have chosen, as the ideas relate to real life problems. The department is friendly and teaching staff are helpful in providing guidance to your learning. The university in general has a close community feel, and because of the collegiate system it's very easy to make friends. My time at Lancaster has also helped me to prepare for a graduate career. The careers service at Lancaster were useful in providing advice that led to me obtaining an Actuarial summer placement with Mercer. The technical skills I learnt as part of my degree proved extremely useful during the placement. After the summer, I was offered a graduate position which I accepted and look forward to starting after my university experience is over."
