PhD in Pure Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster has a lively and growing group of research mathematicians in various areas of Mathematical Analysis and Algebra.
Particular topics are Operator Algebras, Banach Spaces, Geometric Constraint Rigidity Theory, Operator inequalities, Noncommutative Probability, Random Matrices, Brownian motion, Stochastic Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Lie Algebras and Representation Theory.
The beautiful Lancaster University campus is situated on the outskirts of the historic city of Lancaster. Our location provides students with easy access to the idyllic Lake District as well as the lively student-friendly cities of Manchester and Liverpool. As a PhD student you will be encouraged to attend conferences and will be provided with a laptop computer for the duration of your study.
