Core Modules
The following modules are taken by all MSc students:

- MATH550 Likelihood inference (sample notes)
- MATH457 Computationally intensive methods (sample notes)
- MATH461 Statistics in practice (sample notes)
Specialist Modules
In addition to the core modules students will choose a further five modules from those listed below:
- MATH462 Principles of epidemiology (sample notes )

- MATH472 Genomics - technologies and data analyses
- MATH453 Extremes (sample notes)
- MATH459 Longitudinal data analysis (sample slides)
- MATH463 Survival and event history analysis
- CHIC465 Environmental epidemiology
- MATH468 Pharmacological modelling
- MATH469 Adaptive and bayesian methods in clinical research
Pathways in Medical Statistics, Pharmaceutical Statistics and Environmental Statistics
Students can select their optional modules and dissertation topic to follow designated pathways in:
- Environmental Statistics;
- Medical Statistics;
- Pharmaceutical Statistics.
These topics reflect the research interests and expertise within the Department and prepare students for particular career options in areas with high demand for trained statisticians.
