MSc in Statistics

It is widely recognised that there is a national and international shortage of well-qualified statisticians. This has led to a situation where employers are competing to hire suitably qualified individuals. For many of these positions, a postgraduate qualification in statistics is essential. Our MSc programme has been designed with this vocational need in mind. The programme also provides an excellent foundation for those wishing to progress to a PhD in Statistics.

The programme in 2010-11 will offer three different pathways:

• Medical Statistics
• Pharmaceutical Statistics
• Environmental Statistics

These topics prepare students for particular career options in areas with high demand for trained statisticians and they reflect some of the research interests and expertise within the Department. A broad exposure to postgraduate-level statistics can be gained though choosing modules from across the three pathways.
