Pupils from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Thailand and Lancaster Girls' Grammar School visited the University on Monday 12th October. The Thai students are in Lancaster as part of a science-exchange project with LGGS.
They attended a variety of events and met teaching staff and researchers from Biology, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics and Communications Systems. The department's contribution to their programme was a seminar entitled "Statistics in the Public Eye", lead by Matt Sperrin. This focussed on critically evaluating statistics that are encountered in everyday life. Mr Sperrin said, "It was great to see such enthusiasm and interest from the students".
Lancaster Girls Grammar School teacher Steph Brown said, "The sixth formers and their Thai partners found the maths and science activities great fun".
