Tony Kynn : World Champion!

Departing Web developer Tony Kynn beat an international field to win the 2006 World Stone Skimming Championship this weekend.

Tony Kynn, who has been working as web developer in the department for the past six months, beat all comers to win the World Stone Skimming Championship on Easdale Island, Scotland on Sunday.

His enthusiasm for the sport was evident in the department on the Friday beforehand, which was the last day here for him, his wife Mary, and their two children.

It has now been confirmed that he won the championship after earlier reports that he was placed third. He was the only person to hit the back wall (62m distance) in the first round and the second round 'toss off'.

Full results and reports should be on the official web site - stoneskimming.com - shortly.

Tony and family are now returning to Australia, but they would be more than welcome to return next year if Tony wishes to defend his title.
