Two new chairs appointed in Medical Statistics
Ernst Wit and John O'Quigley have taken up posts as Chairs in the Medical Statistics Unit
Ernst Wit arrives from the University of Glasgow, and takes up a chair in Bioinformatics. His research is centred on Statistical Genetics and the analysis of Microarray experiments.
John O'Quigley, formerly of the University of California San Diego and the Institut Curie in Paris, is starting as a chair in Biostatistics.
The arrival of Ernst and John reinforces Lancaster's position as one of the strongest Statistics groups in the UK. Existing chairs in the Department are Jon Tawn, Stephen Power, Brian Francis, Peter Diggle, Gareth Roberts, Amanda Chetwynd, Kevin Glazebrook, Roger Penn and Martin Lindsay.
