Admissions up again for this year
The Maths and Stats department has increased its admissions this year for the fourth year running, and is taking students with better grades than before.
Over the last four years the department has increased the number of students from around 60 to 87 with the average A level points score increasing form 21.92 to 25.74 on the old system. (270 to 317 equivalent to new system)
This year we have a total of 87 students joining the department - 45% female, 55% male, a similar split to last year. The A level points average for this cohort is 317 (25.74 on the old system). There are 11 of the incoming students who have achieved the three A grades required to be eligible for the £1000 per annum scholarship.
Looking forward to next year, we have already received a number of enquiries about our courses. The university-wide visit days in August and September were very successful with over 7000 visitors coming to look around the campus on 23rd September.
