For several years, I have been developing software to model representation theory and homological algebra on a computer. This has meant developing algorithms for operations on matrix algebras and basic algebras. In this talk I will present a gentle overview of the program with an emphasis on motivation, meaning the sorts of mathematical problems that I want to investigate and on some of the fundamental problems (which are often of a linear algebra nature) that are encountered in the program.
