This talk is a survey of classical realization theorems followed by recent developments. We start with the disk and the Schur class functions.
It is then natural to move on to the polydisk, the Euclidean ball and other domains. However, we show that the domain is only as important as some of the other ingredients in the theory, viz., the test functions or the kernels involved.
