The main result of the talk is a new representation for the Dirac equation. As the unknown quantity we use the so-called coframe, i.e. a field of orthonormal bases. We write down a simple Lagrangian whose variation with respect to the coframe produces the Dirac equation. The advantage of our approach is that it does not require the use of spinors, Pauli matrices or covariant differentiation. The only geometric concepts we use are those of a metric, differential form, wedge product and exterior derivative. The price we pay for this simplicity is that the change of variable
spinor --> coframe
makes the Dirac equation nonlinear. The morale of the talk is that, in our opinion, it is more natural to view the Dirac equation as a nonlinear equation for the unknown coframe rather than a linear equation for the unknown spinor.
