Conference Report
The Lancaster workshop had 29 participants, 14 being senior researchers (holders of permanent academic positions) and 15 early career researchers. Of these, one came from Canada, one from Poland, four from France and 23 from the UK.
The Lancaster workshop meeting covered one of the main topics of the PHD project, namely, ‘Isoperimetric Principles in Geometry and Probability’. The talks were delivered by leading mathematical experts and were accessible to PhD students and researchers from other areas.
Participants attending the meeting came from Europe, Canada and UK. The attendance at lectures was approximately 25, of whom about 14 were early career researchers. The principal source of support was the EC Framework 6 grant provided by the British group based at UCL (£2378). David Kribs received expenses from an EPSRC grant awarded to Prof Stephen Power at Lancaster. In order to support PhD students at the workshop, the Lancaster PSC contributed £500 from its grant as a Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.
